Stewardship Commission

We have each been called through Baptism to continue the ministry of Jesus in our community and in our world. Stewardship is our response to this call; it is the way of life in which we nurture and share the gifts with which God has blessed us.

Earth Stewardship

Our mission is to build awareness of Church teaching about our responsibility to care for God’s creation;  and to provide ideas and information about how we can do this in our everyday lives.  We do this through bulletin articles, and other forms of communication,  working with parish leadership and groups to improve recycling in the parish and by sponsoring an annual “Earth Day Celebration”.

Family Stewardship

In a spirit of gratitude for God’s gifts, we come together to nurture the real meaning of Christian discipleship in our families by supporting and providing opportunities for families to make a difference in the lives of others.  We coordinate an annual “Cookies with Love” event, in which families gather to bake, decorate, wrap and deliver cookies to the elderly at Winchester House and the children’s envelope program which supports 2 children in third world countries.

Gifts Discernment

We coordinate the process of helping parishioners discover the unique ways in which they have been gifted.

 Stewardship of Time/Prayer

God has blessed each of us with the gift of time.  When we spend time in prayer, we give the gift of time back to God and spend time in relationship .   During Lent each year we examine how we spend time with God in prayer.  We sponsor an annual “Prayer Fair” to provide  resources and encouragement to the parish.  We welcome all who are interested to join us in planning for the coming year.

 Stewardship of Talent/Service

Each spring parishioners are given the opportunity to renew or make a commitment share their gifts in ministry and in this way are connected to the programs in which they want to participate.  Through our Baptism and Confirmation we are called to be Disciples of Christ.  Empowered by these sacraments we are called to carry God's message out into the world by  sharing our talents and our time in justice and in love where they are needed.

 Stewardship of Treasure/Sharing

Each fall parishioners are provided the opportunity to make or renew a stewardship commitment to share financial resources with the parish. The pledge is an acknowledgement that all we have is a gift from God, and we are choosing to honor God by returning a portion of what we have received for the work of Jesus Christ through our parish community.  Regular offerings through the financial stewardship program support the operating budget, which is made up of annual expenses that support the many ministries of the parish, including liturgy, music, adult and youth education, social justice programs and outreach activities.
