Hesburgh Lecture 7PM
Saturday, August 7th

Richard W. Garnett, J.D. Associate Dean and Professor, University of Notre Dame Law School will present a free Hesburgh Lecture exploring:

The Right Questions about School Choice:
Education, Religious Freedom, and the Common Good

7:00 p.m. August 7, 2010, St. Joseph Parish Koenig Center, 121 E. Maple Avenue, Libertyville, IL Free. A Reception will immediately follow the lecture.

More than five years ago the Supreme Court ruled the Constitution permits state and local governments to experiment with school-voucher programs, and to include religious schools in the menu of parents' options. What is the current state of the school-choice debate in the courts, in our legislatures, and in the public square? What questions and concerns should shape our thinking about education reform and its connection to religious freedom? The Hesburgh Lecture Series brings the Notre Dame campus to its alumni and friends across the country, striving to encourage intellectual dialogue between alumni, community members, and distinguished Notre Dame Faculty.
