Waukegan Soup Kitchen Leadership Needed!
We need volunteer leaders, individuals that will take responsibility for groups of adult and youth volunteers. People that will coordinate and direct volunteer activities. We are looking for individuals that work 3 times a year organizing volunteer groups for the soup kitchen. We have many people that want to volunteer and participate, but we are short on leaders that can direct and coordinate volunteers. New volunteers have many questions, they want to know what is involved, what is the time commitment and understand what they will be participating in. These interactions take time and patience, but are necessary for a good volunteering experience. We need individuals to help in this area. Helping people learn to help others is very rewarding. We would like help doing this.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Needed for Lake County: CASA Lake County is a non-profit organization which exists to promote and protect the best interest of children who have been abused or neglected, by training volunteers to advocate for them in courts, in schools and in our community to help them find safe, permanent and loving homes. CASA empowers everyday citizens from a variety of backgrounds to be the voice of foster children in court. There has been an influx of new children entering the foster care system, and more volunteers are greatly needed. For more information visit our website at: www.casalakecounty.com or contact Suzanne Cash at scash@casalakecounty.com or Debra Lerner Schmidt at dlernerschmidt@casalakecounty.com
Foster Families Needed for Lake County In recent months, there has been a large increase in the number of children entering foster care in Lake County. With these new children, new foster homes are needed and there aren’t enough available in Lake County. Therefore, children are often placed far away in other counties making visits with their siblings and parents difficult. There is also a great need for loving foster homes for children who may have behavioral challenges due to the trauma that they suffered and for older youth. Being a foster parent is one of the most impactful ways to help an abused or neglected child. It can be the most rewarding and challenging experience at the same time. If you are interested in learning more about resources in becoming a foster parent, please contact Elizabeth Sammann at esammann@casalakecounty.com
