We are delighted to announce that our parish has been blessed with a generous donation of electronic bells, which will ring out to call our community to prayer, worship, and reflection. These bells are a beautiful addition to our parish, symbolizing our unity in faith and enhancing the spiritual atmosphere of our church.
Church bells have a long tradition of guiding people in prayer, and our bells will continue this time-honored practice throughout the day. When you hear the bells, we invite you to take a moment to pause, wherever you are. This could be a brief moment of silence, a prayer, or simply a chance to reflect on the day. The sound of the bells is meant to be a gentle reminder to slow down and acknowledge these moments. The bells will be rung as follows:
The Angelus Peal: At noon and 6:00 PM each day, you’ll hear the Angelus peal: three strikes, repeated three times. This marks the Angelus prayer, which begins with "The angel of the Lord" (Angelus in Latin). When you hear these bells, we invite you to pray three Hail Marys in between the three sets in reflection.
Weekend Mass Bell: Our bells will also ring 10 minutes before each weekend Mass (except for the 7:00 AM Mass due to Libertyville City Ordinances). This gentle chime is your signal to prepare for Mass and make your way inside.
The official dedication of the new bells will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024. We are grateful to the generous donor who made this possible and look forward to the beautiful sound of the bells echoing through our church and beyond. We hope the bells enhance your experience of our community and serve as a gentle reminder of the spiritual moments in our daily lives.
