Aid for Women of Northern Lake County is celebrating forty years of service to the families of Lake County and beyond. Forty years in service to the families of Lake County and beyond has gone by in the blink of an eye. Aid for Women of Northern Lake County opened in April of 1983 in downtown Waukegan in the old Illinois Telephone Building on Madison Street adjacent to the present College of Lake County on Genesee Street. Rent was then $250 per month and the building leaked water every time there was a heavy rain. The college purchased our space in 2010 and forced AFW to rent our present space in Gurnee. God has provided volunteers and monies all the while keeping focused on the protection of the born and unborn and doing our best to provide material goods to our moms and infants. That is where baby showers and holiday giving projects partner with us to insure we can offer important items such as formula, diapers and car seats. In all those years, Aid for Women NLC has never received any government monies nor have we ever written a proposal for grant money. Thank you for all your prayers and gifts to keep our ministry thriving.
