Mundelein Seminary’s mission is very simply stated: We form parish priests. The heart of this goal is encompassed and embodied in the Tolton Teaching Parish Program. Through this integrated program, seminarians spend significant time in a local parish setting where they will grow and learn by participating in ministry. It is within the parish context that their future as priests and pastoral leaders will be fulfilled. Their studies at Mundelein prepare them well for this reality, and it is during their time in the teaching parishes that this learning is translated and applied. The entire formation program at Mundelein Seminary spans four to seven years, depending on what level of training in Catholic philosophy each seminarian has already completed. Most seminarians are assigned to a teaching parish in their second year of philosophy studies.
St. Joseph’s supports the Tolton Teaching Parish Program’s mission of Faith Formation for the Seminarians. This year we have been assigned four Seminarians that will be Ministering here at St. Joe’s every week, working with and actively participating in various ministries throughout the Parish. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue their faith journey.
