Scripture Memorization Challenge Proves Fruitful

Liz Meyers, our 6th grade catechist, has become well known over the years for awarding a whole cake to any student who memorizes Psalm 23 - The Lord is my shepherd. It is one of her favorites and she teaches that it is a source of comfort they will turn to throughout the rest of their lives. One time when she went into Lovin' Oven to purchase a reward cake, the cashier was one of her former students and recited for her the still memorized Psalm. This year the "memorize Psalm 23" contest proved its relevance and resilience during a pandemic when Reece F. showed up on her driveway this week and recited the Psalm on his first try.
