With the return of in-person learning, over 100 backpacks were distributed to families from Libertyville Township who were registered with the Food Pantry. The backpacks were filled with grade and gender specific school supplies. The students were extremely grateful and were able to start the new school year prepared to learn.
Due to the generosity of parishioners, the St. Joseph eighth graders, and food pantry volunteers we had an excess of backpacks and supplies. This remaining inventory was donated to Catholic Charities and was distributed to disadvantaged children throughout Lake County.
In order to accommodate more children living outside of Libertyville Township, next year we will be partnering with Catholic Charities. We have already begun purchasing backpacks. We look forward to working with Catholic Charities and reaching more families in need.
