St. Joseph Parish, Libertyville has brought to Bishop Grob’s attention a volunteer opportunity to serve foster children in Lake County. Lake County CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, ensure that children in foster care are safe and receiving essential educational, medical and mental health services.
Through Lake County CASA, a core of 14 volunteers of St. Joseph Parish is currently advocating for 36 number of children in foster care because of abuse or neglect.
Additional individuals are sought to serve as CASA volunteers to bring compassion to children whose voices need to be heard. CASA advocates ensure that children and their families are treated with dignity and with an assurance of hope. A critical need is for Spanish speaking advocates. CASA currently has 100 children waiting for advocates and ten cases of multiple children in need of Spanish-speaking advocates.
