Derek Hooper
Hello, my name is Deacon Derek Hooper, and I am excited to be joining you for the upcoming academic year. I am currently studying for the Diocese of Jefferson City, MO, and I will be ordained to the priesthood for them on June 5th, God willing. I was born in Oklahoma but grew up in Kansas. I was in the Army from 2000-2002, and I was stationed at Schofield Barracks, HI. I attended Pittsburg State University receiving a BBA in Business Finance. I then attended the University of Dallas receiving an MBA in Corporate Finance and Sports & Entertainment Management. I have done accounting work for a manufacturing company in Kansas. I have also taught high school religion for a couple of years. I look forward to being with you this upcoming year, and to growing in the faith with you.
Nick Zummo
My name is Nick Zummo, and I am a seminarian from Springfield, Missouri. This year is my second year of studies at Mundelein Seminary. During my schooling last year, I also had the privilege of participating in the parish life here at St. Joes’. It has been a joy to meet so many of you at the parish thus far. I’m excited to be back in person this year and to have the opportunity to continue getting to know this kind community. Since leaving Libertyville last March, I had many good experiences. Our regular seminary classes continued online, and then I spent the summer at a parish in my home Diocese. As the summer wrapped up, I had a couple of free weeks, which I mostly spent with my family as well as fishing with friends. I hope that each of you had an equally enjoyable summer and look forward to catching up in the coming days. See you soon!
