The St. Joseph Employment Ministry assists the unemployed and under-employed in the pursuit of fulfilling employment opportunities. Anyone with an interest in assisting job-seekers is also welcome. Our sessions are free, and all are welcome. We invite anyone who is
1) Looking for a job or
2) Just thinking about a job change
to join us at a meeting to see how we might help you.
It does take some time to develop a solid “toolkit”, and an early start gets you well-prepared.
We invite you to check out the tools and resources on the left tabs.
When you lose your job, it’s important to understand:
1) You are not alone.
2) There are people who understand, care and are ready to help.
3) There’s no shame in losing your job. Job transition is a fact of life. Restructurings happen all the time. On average, people now change jobs every 3-4 years, and change entire careers 3-7 times over their lifetime.
4) You’re not a failure because you lost your job. You still have the same skills and abilities that you had the day before you left your position.
5) To land a new job, you need to develop a solid strategy and a specific ‘toolkit.’ Including elements like: Resume Preparation, Effective Networking, Using LinkedIn and Interviewing techniques.
6) Networking is the “secret sauce”. (70 - 85% of all jobs are filled via networking)
God our Father and Creator, You bestow upon us gifts and talents
To develop and use in accord with your will.
Grant to me, through the intercession of St. Joseph the Worker - as model and guide -
Employment and work, that I may, with dignity, provide for those that depend on me for care and support.
Grant me the opportunities to use my energy, talents, and abilities
For the good of all, and the glory of Your name.
Amen
While the Employment Ministry is not a “job bank” per se, we are periodically notified of employment opportunities in the area, which we will post on this page.
