Welcome Missionary Priest, Father Joseph Mulligan Father Joseph Mulligan is an advocate of the social doctrine of the Church, peace and justice and solidarity. He is visiting with us from Nicaragua the weekend of September 18 and 19 to accompany us at mass and to be a speaker for our “Conversations that Matter” discussion series on September 19 where we will talk about the Christian calling to create an all-inclusive community in world of division and hostility (details below). Father Joe is a missionary priest who has lived and worked in Nicaragua for more than 30 years. Ordained a priest in 1973, he lived and worked in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago and then in an ethnically mixed neighborhood of Detroit. In 1986 he was missioned to Nicaragua, where he has worked with Christian Base Communities, with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, and with people with disabilities. Come say hello to Father Joe after 5pm mass on Saturday, September 18 and after 10:45 mass on September 19. He has amazing, life-affirming stories from his faith-filled ministry in Nicaragua accompanying the sick and people with disabilities.
