On the evening of December 8, the community of
Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi hosted their annual “Advent Open House,” although this year, the guests were invited via a Zoom link! Although the pandemic didn’t allow them to have friends actually over to their Libertyville home at this time, they still wanted to open their house as much as possible during this beautiful season of Advent, and they were able to do this through a virtual platform. The event started out with a lovely piece on the piano by Melicia Antonio, followed by short introductions from each of the consecrated women in the community, in which they shared about who they are and what each of them does in her ministry. Next, Jill Swallow, a consecrated woman who joined from the Houston community, played some verses of O Come, O Come Emmanuel. After this, there was an opening prayer, a reading from Isaiah and an Advent reflection, entitled “Divine and Human Hospitality: Welcoming God to our Hearts this Christmas” given by Mary Schwarz. The night concluded with the singing of some Christmas carols and lots of waves and smiles over the Zoom screen. The consecrated women of Regnum Christi are hoping to host a big in-person Open House next year!
