The Altar Servers and their families responded to the invitation made by the Altar Servers Leadership Team. More than 100 people came together on the evening of Sunday, October 6.
The meeting began with fellowship and sharing of pizza and beverages. The altar servers were able to talk in an informal setting with their peers and families got to know each other.
Then, Mr. Larry Gundrum spoke about the opportunity for altar servers to serve at funeral Masses. Mr. Gundrum, who coordinates the bereavement ministry at St. Joe's shared with the children and their families the joy and rewards of serving families in time of need.
Fr. Robinson presented on the order of the Mass to help children and families familiarize with the structure of the Eucharist. This is going to be very helpful in their service at the liturgy because it will allow them to know what is next and feel more comfortable when serving at the Mass.
Finally, Mrs. Lindee Katdare led a trivia on the Order of the Mass. Two teams were formed and competed to review the previous presentation and grow deeper in their understanding of the structure of the Mass.
The families were very happy to be able to share with other families and their children.
The altar servers have two family meetings a year (February and October) and come together for commissioning, picnic, and fishing in June.
