It was a beautiful day on the campus of University of St. Mary of the Lake, Mundelein.
The Vocations Ministry help to support the Altar Server Picnic and Fishing Derby. It was so gratifying to see the enjoyment and excitement of the younger generation learning the art of fishing from their more mature companions. With decades of life between the two, they met with mutual joy in the experience they were sharing.
Parishioner (and expert fisherman,) Larry Gundrum summed up the day perfectly. "Fishing provides the opportunity to commune with God and nature while patiently and optimistically indulging in the art of the possible."
Thank you Father Robinson for your time and commitment to this ministry. And thank you to parishioners Eileen Glynn-Tucker, Jasmine Sosa, Lindee Katdare, Jim Decker, Dan and Julie Love for being part of the team and helping organize the event.
We offer a special thank you to the Vocations Ministry for supporting the picnic and the prizes awarded for the largest fish (a catfish!) most fish reeled in, and the largest bass.
Thank you to the altar servers and families that joined us for this year's picnic. We hope to see you again next year!
