Fellow Parishioners,
Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, also known as Candlemas. This Feast signifies that Jesus was presented to God in the temple by Joseph and Mary. You will hear in today’s Gospel, Simeon recognized him as the one promised by God the Light of the World, his parents were amazed. On Candlemas, we bless all of the candles we use in our parish as the sign of Jesus, the Light of the World.
As many of you may have heard or if you were away last weekend our Director of Music, Ron Vanasdlen, has chosen to move on and accept the position of Director of Liturgy and Music at the newly formed Divine Mercy Parish in Winnetka. This newly formed parish is a combination of Sacred Heart and St. Phillip the Apostle in Northfield. The joining of these two parishes is an outcome of the Renew My Church Imitative in the Archdiocese of Chicago. On behalf of Fr. Trout and our entire staff I would like to once again thank Ron for his six years of Service to St. Joseph’s and wish him well in his new position.
As we move forward we will be developing a search committee that will help us fill the Director of Music s position. This will include members of the Parish and Worship Commission, various choir members, and the priests. As we form our team and begin our search I will continue to keep all posted on our progress to identify and hire our next Director of Music. In the meantime, I have identified and am working on finalizing an interim Director and will be assisting with all aspects of Music. If you have any questions or comment please send me an email to
[email protected] As you go about your week, please be aware of God’s presence among us and ask him to be open to seeing Jesus the Light of the World, the Light given to each of us at our Baptism.
