AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU TO DO SOMETHING IMPORTANT ABOUT GUN SAFETY
Zoom Action by Metro IAF’s “Do Not Stand Idly By” Campaign in support of the Gun Safety Consortium Tuesday, April 27 9:45 AM CDT
The newly formed national Gun Safety Consortium will publicly pressure the gun industry to research and bring to market new gun safety products and procedures. On April 27, 2021, various local government and law enforcement entities from more than a dozen cities and counties around the country will jointly issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking more and better products they can test to help keep guns safe and secure. The Consortium has been started with support from our gun safety campaign Do Not Stand Idly By (DNSIB). Here are the goals of the RFP:
Reduce the incidence of theft, unauthorized use, and accidental and suicide-related discharge of firearms owned by civilians by promoting public awareness of available and potential safety products that can be used to effectively securefirearms in homes, cars, and other places.
Protect law enforcement and armed security personnel—and, by extension, their families and the general public—by minimizing the risk of the theft, unauthorized use, or accidental discharge of their firearms while on duty as well as off.
What we need from you:
Show up on the Zoom call at 9:45 AM CDT on April 27 to show your support for this effort.
Organize five others to join you.
You and all the people you recruit need to register your individual email addresses separately, using the registration link below. PLEASE Register in advance for this meeting ASAP so we know you and your people are coming.
List your organization as “Illinois Metro IAF” or your local affiliate at the top of this page.
You and your people will each then receive a Zoom link to observe the announcement, which should last about 30 minutes, explaining the Request for Proposals.
Our goal is to get 200 people from Illinois to attend.
