At the end of the summer, 15 Scouts and 8 adult leaders from Troop 60 canoed and kayaked eight miles on the Kishwaukee River outside of Rockford, IL. Our Troop learned about canoe & kayak safety as well as navigating through a river with rapids and by landmarks. Scouts also completed many requirements for their Camping Merit Badge which focused on preparing for campouts, organization of the camp and camp duties, as well as cooking meals. During this campout, Scouts enjoyed the good weather by also swimming in the river, playing chess outdoors and relaxing at the campfire. Thanks to Mr. W. for helping us with the Camping Merit Badge.
