Dear Parishioners, The faithful are always welcome to gather in Church for personal prayer as individual or as a group. At the same time, in accord with sound liturgical practice and in keeping with archdiocesan norms, which I personally confirmed with the Cardinal, the recitation of prayers must never interfere with, interrupt or distract from the public liturgy of the Church.
There are many today who consider themselves ‘spiritual but not religious.’ Particularly in these days when our Church is replete with division and scandal, it is important for us to focus on the difference between the two.
This year's Annual Catholic Appeal theme renews and reinvigorates us. We hear Jesus say to us, "Come, Follow Me...and bring hope to the world." Your support of the appeal means bringing hope to the world.
Next week our Psalm response invites us to “taste and see the goodness of the Lord.” The response and all of the Scripture passages next week remind us of the gift of free will and the fundamental choices we have to make if we are to enjoy a life of joy and peace on this earth and in the eternal life to come.
Lake County United Update Members of Lake County United work as agents for change on issues that most impact the people of Lake County. They are able to accomplish this mission thanks to the generous support from the community. Volunteers donate time, resources, supplies, and answer the call what is needed.

Joe earned his Master of Divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology (JST) of Santa Clara University in Berkeley. While at JST, Joe collaborated with peers to start lay faith sharing groups to foster the spiritual development of lay students.
