S.H.P. Bed Ministry Update: Since the Bed Ministry began in November of 2019, they have delivered 700 beds to the families of Lake and Cook County. Dennis and Pat delivered the 700th bed earlier this week. What a blessing!

The St Joseph Children’s Advocacy Ministry continues to grow with 17 court appointed special advocates (CASAs). The juvenile courts in Lake County have seen more new cases and more new children entering protective care than ever before.
We are hopeful that as we come to better know Jesus and the love of God, our faith will grow and strengthen. However, our readings this week serve as a caution to us… that as fear and doubts begin to melt away and we experience the joy and peace promised us, we need to be careful not to get too full of ourselves.

The Men’s Council of St. Joseph Parish held the 15th annual Men’s Summer Retreat at Mundelein Seminary on Saturday, September 11th. The theme of the retreat was “Finding Joy at the Boundaries” and featured presentations by Fr. John Kartje, Deacon Dan Coughlin and Dr. Kevin Murphy.

Members of the St. Joseph community took advantage of the long weekend to tend to some gardening at the Lake County Poor Farm burial ground, located behind Winchester House.
It is amazing what modern medicine can do to repair and heal the human body… even infants in the womb! Even though we may occasionally become blasé about it, the technology and skill can be truly mindboggling when we stop to think about it.
