This volunteer position does provide direct client interaction and low level case management. The office is open Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. The volunteer time is very flexible. We will take whatever the volunteer is willing to give. This volunteer opportunity is available is both the Waukegan office located at 671 S. Lewis Ave. and the Round Lake office located at 101 N.
In September, our number of guest visits at St. Joseph Food Pantry was 1,402. This number reflects the climate we currently live in of high inflation. We appreciate all the support we receive from our parishioners and community in the form of financial and food donations.
Scouts from BSA Troop 60 biked from St. Joseph School to Lake Michigan at the start of fall. Adult leaders and Scouts camped the night at Illinois Beach State Park in Zion, Illinois. The Scouts enjoyed the good weather by swimming in Lake Michigan. Everyone enjoyed the meal cooked by the Scouts, especially the cobbler.
In the Second Book of Kings, we encounter a man named Naaman, who is wealthy and powerful, but also suffers from leprosy that threatens his life. We hear that “the Lord brought victory to Aram” through Naaman, even though he was an enemy of Israel.
Earlier this week in a note to Archdiocesan priests, Cardinal Cupich shared an update on the efforts and plans in partnership with Catholic Charities for creating a coordinated Catholic response for asylum seekers arriving in Chicago as well as ways for local parishes to support this cause.
