Please join us in congratulating this year's Golden Rose award recipient, Sheila Tucker. The Golden Rose Awards were presented to the candidates on Feb. 5, 2023, by the Most Reverend Jeffrey Grob, Bishop of Vicariate 1, at a special Mass at 3pm at St. Mary of the Annunciation, Mundelein. Recipients of this award have shown leadership, portrayed spirituality, and gone above and beyond in a service project.
Thank you to all who attended our Mental Health Panel Discussion! We hope you learned about the importance of mental health and how we can work together to improve it. Available here are the livestream recording and Fr. Ternan's concluding prayer.
Troop 60 Boy Scouts, along with Pack 60 Cub Scouts, were the color guard at St. Joseph School’s Veterans’ Day Service. Scouts and Adult Leaders have also started planning for a 10-day backpacking trip at Philmont Scout Ranch near Cimarron, New Mexico.
Scouts from BSA Troop 60 biked from St. Joseph School to Lake Michigan at the start of fall. Adult leaders and Scouts camped the night at Illinois Beach State Park in Zion, Illinois. The Scouts enjoyed the good weather by swimming in Lake Michigan. Everyone enjoyed the meal cooked by the Scouts, especially the cobbler.
School is back in session; Cub Scouts are back in session. The Pack 60 Cub Scouts opened the 2022-2023 scouting year with the ‘recycle regatta’. We welcomed new and returning scouts who created floating masterpieces propelled by human-powered air flow and using only recycled materials.
At the end of the summer, 15 Scouts and 8 adult leaders from Troop 60 canoed and kayaked eight miles on the Kishwaukee River outside of Rockford, IL. Our Troop learned about canoe & kayak safety as well as navigating through a river with rapids and by landmarks.
School is out - Camp is in. This summer, our Cub Scouts attended camp in Northern WI. They learned new outdoor skills (fire building, fishing, swimming, boating), made new friends with other local Cub Scouts & relaxed.
