During Poverty Awareness Month, join the U.S. Bishops, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and the Catholic community in the United States in taking up Pope Francis' challenge to live in solidarity with the poor and marginalized.
Our parishioners volunteered at the PADS site making beds, bringing dinner and delivering lunches for the 40 people that needed a warm meal and a place to sleep.
On December 11th, the St. Joseph's social justice commission and parishioners donated, collected and delivered over 2,000 gifts to agencies and families in the area!

Look for locally made gifts at craft fairs and artisan shops. Not only are the gifts unique, but also they reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation.
The Waukegan Soup Kitchen serves approximately 220 families a meal on Friday and Saturday Nights. Volunteer Captains are needed on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.
Our Bed Ministry builds and delivers beds to children in need. Volunteers gather to make beds from wood and then deliver and assemble them to the homes of the children in need.

St. Joseph is once again preparing for our wonderful Giving Tree event! You are invited to Share Joy with others this Christmas Season. Over 2000 tags will be available on-line and hanging on the ribbons in the church. The tags and gift ideas will be available November 11th!
St. Joseph's Community Gardeners harvested and cleared the plots for the Season. An amazing season for the gardens! The produce was donated to the food pantry families. Thank you!
This volunteer position does provide direct client interaction and low level case management. The office is open Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. The volunteer time is very flexible. We will take whatever the volunteer is willing to give. This volunteer opportunity is available is both the Waukegan office located at 671 S. Lewis Ave. and the Round Lake office located at 101 N.
In September, our number of guest visits at St. Joseph Food Pantry was 1,402. This number reflects the climate we currently live in of high inflation. We appreciate all the support we receive from our parishioners and community in the form of financial and food donations.
Earlier this week in a note to Archdiocesan priests, Cardinal Cupich shared an update on the efforts and plans in partnership with Catholic Charities for creating a coordinated Catholic response for asylum seekers arriving in Chicago as well as ways for local parishes to support this cause.
Through September 26 our parishioners have generously donated $14,602 to the Seminarian Education collection. The Seminarian Fund provides support for the training and education of men studying for priesthood in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago continues to gratefully partner with other leading human service organizations and local and state government as Venezuelan migrants continue to arrive from Texas.
