Experience God's Mercy Through Reconciliation Reconciliation is a beautiful sacrament where we can experience God’s forgiveness and restore our relationship with Him, the Church, and others. Whether it’s been a while or you’re just looking to grow closer to God, you are invited to come and experience His forgiveness.
Every Saturday Reconciliation is offered weekly on Saturday from 11 AM to 12 PM. No appointment needed, just come and experience the healing power of God’s love.
If you would like to prepare for First Reconciliation of an older child, are an adult who would like to prepare for the Sacrament, or would like more information, please call the Parish Office at 847-362-2073.
Three Steps for Reconciliation 1. Pray and Examine Your Conscience Before you go to confession, take a quiet moment to think about your actions and ask God to help you recognize where you may need forgiveness. It’s a time to reflect on things like making mistakes, hurting others, or carrying burdens you don’t need to hold onto anymore. To help you prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, please see some options to do your Examination of Conscience here.
2. Go to the Confessional and Confess When you’re ready, head to the confessional. It may feel intimidating if it’s been a while, but don’t worry! The priest is there to listen with kindness, and there is no judgment. This is a safe space where you can be honest with God and begin to heal.
3. Penance After confessing, the priest will give you a small act of penance to do, and then he will offer the words of absolution: “I absolve you of your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” This means your sins are forgiven, and you’re starting fresh with God.
You’re not alone. God is always ready to forgive and welcome you back with open arms.
