WORLD MISSION SUNDAY joins all Catholics of the world into one community of faith. Pope Francis’ message for World Mission Sunday this year reflects on the theme: “We cannot but speak about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20).
This quote is a reminder that we are called to "do and serve," and not keep the blessings from God to ourselves.
Take a look at the video on the left and see how St. Joseph Catholic Church has supported the ministries that answer the calling to "do and serve." Thank you!
Together we bring the Lord’s mercy help to the most vulnerable communities.
WE CANNOT KEEP FROM SPEAKING ABOUT WHAT WE HAVE SEEN AND HEARD. ACTS 4:20
We are blessed to be part of a generous parish that contributed over $230,000 to organizations that work to improve and change the lives of families, children and people living in poverty. We are grateful to our parish community for contributing 6% of weekly donations and the growing number of parishioners who contribute through our GOLD ENVELOPES and Give Central (https://stjoseph-libertyville.org/support-us on the St. Joseph website).
Our mission is to enable the sharing of our God given talents and strengths in the service of others and our goal is to transform our parish community through engagement and faith in action experiences. Through our Social Justice Fund and GOLD ENVELOPES we are able to focus on the importance of dignity and self-sufficiency.
The needs are enormous and we have a high standard for selecting organizations that receive our support. We emphasize support for Catholic social service and human service organizations such as Catholic Charities and Catholic Relief Services. And we also support social service and human service organizations that are aligned with our parish mission and goals as well as USCCB guidelines. We require that the majority of organizations provide growing opportunities for parishioner ministry engagement. And we require that organizations provide periodic reports on outcomes and sustainability.
Our St Joseph parish community is currently engaged in over 26 Social Justice and Service Ministries and the following organizations received financial support in 2021:
